Took a day trip to Amarapura. Dropped off on the side of the road, but managed to find our way through alleyways to the market and bridge.
Main reason to come is the Ubein Bridge. It is a 1.2 km Teakwood bridge built some 200 years ago. There are 1060 posts elevating the bridge to accommodate the rising waters of the lake in the wet season.
Our taxi-truck got a flat tire on the way to Inwa, so we ended up jumping onto another. This is an everyday occurance here!
Walked a few kms through this beautiful wooded road to the ferry to take us to Inwa, a huge island with an ancient city. Horse carts are the ay to go here so on we went. Monasteries, temples, pagodas, the leaning tower and more.
