WestmalleWestmalleWestmalle

This is the actual bottle the Westmalle came in. One of my favourite photos so far as well.
When I left home I had the idea of trying as many different beers as possible from all the countries we visited. The rules were simple it had to be out of a stubby, or bottle for those of you who don't understand the lingo. The reason being I don't like drinking out of cans, due to squid lips (when you go fishing the cans roll around with the ice and the bait and therefore don't taste that great).
I also wanted to compare each beer to one back home, but that wasn't always possible, and sometimes I have even forgotten the name of the beer, as I didn't write it down and the photo isn't that clear.
The main point though is to show something different, and is for the boys back home, or any beer connoisseurs out there. It is also a way to celebrate our 50th journal entry.
Kids remember it is only one beer each time.

Stay tuned for Beers Around The World Volume II (100th entry) which will probably have a bit more partying going on in the photos.

We couldn't order any bottles (just pints), and we saw a bloke across from us drinking it so we decided 'we'll have what he's having'. It was very nice, but little did we know that it was close to 10%. After not having eaten much all day we stumbled outside a little light headed. We had this beer in a cafe in Amsterdam.
CarlsbergCarlsberg
Carlsberg

The infamous Oxford versus Cambridge rowing race day. I don't mind Carlsberg, but not a big fan of beer in cans. Mind you I'm not in the photo! Chriso, Razi & Beck seem quite happy with proceedings though.
Not just beerNot just beer
Not just beer

In some cultures beer isn't always the going drink, so we would try what the locals drink. On this particular day it was just messy.

We're just mates - seriously.

Sometimes it is hard to think where your next beer is coming from, so you get close to your best mate for comfort.

Knowing Razi, the Carlsberg in hand is only part of the reason he is smiling.

This photo is likely to be used as a successful marketing campaingn by Carlsberg later this year in the UK.

Kids, Red Bull & Vodka is bad for you no matter what anyone says, or how much fun Chriso looks like he is having.

Positive - no chemicals in the brewing process. Negative - room temperature beer. Tasted alright though.

Matty

Matty has assisted me in sampling various English beers since we arrived. Very kind of him.

Great way to celebrate Kez & Rod's 4th wedding anniversary. French champagne with a hint of blackberry liquer. Beck & Kez look quite pleased.
LeffeLeffe
Leffe

I'm pretty sure Leffe is a Belgium beer, but it's obviously popular as we've tried it in a few different countries. This time in France.
NemesisNemesis
Nemesis

Leffe is proving to be somewhat of a nemesis. I really like it, but it's also stronger than a standard beer so I can't have lots of it.
PintsPints
Pints

In the UK beer is served in a pint, which leads to little trickles of beer running out of your ear every now and again.

Escorts

Chocolate & Chriso were our escorts for our first night out in London Town, and they proved to be excellent at their job.

Rod

Rod often works behind the bar at Fatty's which makes life tough for us when we call in.

When in Holland...

Theo brought a crate of Heineken around for our party in Holland. It went down well.
Leffe?Leffe?
Leffe?

I think this is a Leffe from memory, but I could be wrong. Theo/Henny can you remember?

Heineken

I'm not a big rap for Heineken when I've drank it at home, but the local Heineken is really nice. Much better than the export.

I'll get back to you with what this beer was called.

Budweiser

I used to think Budweiser was ok, but there is nothing exciting about it. At least this one was bigger than the 330 ml you get back home.
