This photo was taken of the ice Airfield on the 30 Nov. 2007; three days late all buildings and equiptment was moved 10 miles to Williams Field Airfield for the rest of the summer season.

Cross Observation Hill--This cross is an historic Monument and preserved in accordance with the provisions of the Antarctica Treaty. It was erected in January 1913 to commemorate Captain Scott and his party who lost their lives on the return journey from the South Pole in March 1912.

Flatbed loaded and tied down. The Ice Airfield is about three miles from McMurdo, across an ice road floating on the ocean.

Approaching the Ice Airfield, check out the planes all lined up to receive cargo. These planes will fly to the South Pole and other field camps where science studies are being accomplished.

Almost to my off load point, planes and the ice Airfield buildings are ahead, and the cargo is still attached to the flatbed as seen in mirror.

Our cargo Delta's crossing the trasition from land to ice road, which is starting to leak. In another week the ice will be thin enough that we will be driving thru a coupe feet of water that is floating on top of 4 foot thick ice over water over 100 feet deep.
