Day 1 Exploring the CApe regions...
After an early start and hearty brekky made by Aunty Hazel - we all piled into a rented VW Golf in a racy bright blue and headed towards Stellenbosch the wine making area !
An amazing day followed including patting cheetahs as part of a rehabilitation program where Anatolian Shepherds are used to protect flocks from predation. This initiative reduces Cheetahs kills by 90 % on livestock - and is repairing the love between shepherd and Cheetahs. Thus reducing poaching and improving chances of this great cat making it into the next century.
The day also found us in an ancient Brandy Distillery sipping 20 year old Brandy... in an area colonised in the 1600 s by the Hugenots from France. Eating chocolates in a french Cholatiers shop in a town call Frauschhoek... or something like that. Green hills, vineyards, mountains that hold snow in the winters...
The area is like something out of a Tolkein Novel in terms of natural beauty and fertility beyond measure...
We then had a sleep in the Spiers Winery Gardens ... with Mongoose playing around us the kids caught up on journals (diary of
their travels so far) The day ended with a Meal with Anton (Sarahs Cousin) his wife Peitru, Hazel and our tribe ... in a tree house... painted faces and dancing to the beats of Dark Africas Drums.
Its starting to feel like Africa... Jade ll Update on day 2...
