Things I didn’t get to April 7

Weather
I guess global warming has its affects in Zimbabwe too. When we first came here it was the rainy season, but there was no rain. Now we are going into the dry winter, but its raining at least once a day! And this isn’t ordinary rain. It pours! Nice sun in the morning, sheets of rain in the afternoon. The real problem is there still isn’t enough water to fill the reservoir.
Electricity
In Kamloops, we almost never have power outages, but here, they have them daily. They’re not actually power outages they’re outages, they’re power cuts. It’s usually cut a t six (if they use the schedule). I’m still finding it fun but Jenni is sick of it. The only time that I don’t like it is when we can’t cook dinner.

Mission accomplished April 11

Yes, I finally opened a coke bottle! No, not with a bottle opener, that would be silly. I opened the coke bottle with another coke bottle! It’s very hard, but I did it! Mom told me I wasn’t strong enough. Well, I was, and I did it. Mission accomplished!

“Makhiwa” April 11 (again)

Makhiwa means white person, when you’re in Zimbabwe, get used to hearing that. But don’t worry, it’s not an insult, pastor T told us that it’s actually a compliment (weird enough). It’s a compliment because in society white people are looked upon as people of importance. So, it’s a good thing to be called “makhiwa”, although it can get annoying.

Hello again
Hi you two. Just catching up on your blog - all so heartfelt and the way you tell it is amazing - I feel like I am there with you. We are all doing well - we had a wonderful Easter at Gateway, made even more special with the baptism of Diane and Tim - how exciting for both of them. Then this weekend some of the men got together to help Ted out. We are raising money for a new trailer for him to live in, and today the men cleaned up his lot at Monte Lake for the new trailer to be moved onto. It was a big job! Also, youth has started up, and Jared had a full page feature written up in the Daily News about it, as well as our hot dog lunches. It was an awesome article - now let the teens come and fill the space! Sending a hug, take care and God Bless! Praying for you as you continue your journey! Love Sandi
