Record volume of water gushing through Vic Falls. The picture shows only 1/10 th of the entire falls
After a long ardous 17 hour bus ride, we landed in Livingstone, Zambia's Tourism Capital. We stayed at Jollyboys Backpackers and signed up right away for a Booze Cruise on the Zambezi. The boat started sail at 3:30 pm and went along the mighty Zambezi river, upriver from the Vic Falls. We drank, ate and made new friends and watched Elephants and Hippos along with the beautiful sunset. We met an Indian family from Lusaka that had come to see the falls. There are plenty of Indians in Zambia, mainly in small businesses - similar to all the East African countries we have visited before.

Zambia and several countries in this region had record rainfalls this year and therefore, the famed South Luangwa Park was closed and Victoria Falls had record water volume. While we were there, it was raining on and off daily. When there was a break in the rain, we rushed to see Victoria Falls.

Victoria Falls is partly in Zimbabwe and partly in Zambia. It is an amazing sight to see the mighty falls. Victoria Falls is 1 mile wide and 108 metres high - twice the height of Niagara Falls. Due to heavy rains,

the amount of water flowing through the falls was 9-10 times the average. While walking near the falls, we were totally drenched by the mist from the falls. We walked about Knife bridge and the Victoria Falls Bridge Trail to get excellent views of the falls.

During Full moon, Vic Falls provides Lunar rainbows at night....but, due to rain/clouds we were unable to see it.
If you are an adrenaline junkie, one can bungy jump into the river from the Vic Bridge or do microlighting or rafting in the river.

After Victoria Falls, we made our way to Botswana.
