Heya,

Im a 31year old South African guy travelling to Tanzania and was wondering if i could hook up with ppl already there or if there are other solo travellers who will join me. I arrive in Dar on the 26th Jan but heading to Zanzi with a friend to dive after which they leave but im still around till the 12th Feb 2011.

I am essentially planning on going by train from Dar to Arusha and from there heading into the Serengeti. Any suggestions or comments on this plan will be most welcomed...😊

1.Eg: I gather from the posts iv been reading on TB that i shd expect to pay around 120USD a day? Does this rate still hold seeing that some of the posts are abt 2 years old...?

2. With regard to travelling by bus, taxi, hitching, shd safety be a concern? Im a Masters student so quite price sensitive and my 1 rand is only getting me 200Tsh...:P so im looking at exploring all alternatives before handing over cash to any operators.

3. With regard to Zanzi, what are the best places of the island to stay? Nungwi or shd i be looking at places like Paje in the East? Im looking at doing an advanced open water course and therefore would be really appreciative if any one can advise on the best parts of the island to dive and suggested operators. I am also looking at doing some Deep sea fishing, Any ideas on this too regarding price, location etc etc...😊

4. I was told Pemba is dangerous to visit or not worth visiting much to my consternation?? Is this true?

Fellow Explorers, thanks in advance for reading and for any info offered...

With Meandering Wishes,
IW 😊
