This is one of my favorite students, Fatahia. When she is concentrating she has a very stern face, she quietly tuts and shakes her head if she cannot do anything, but when she is not concentrating she is one of the funniest people I have ever met.

I needed a hair cut, two of the students work in a hair cutting place, so I walked with them and got hair cut. Stick a Tanzanian in front of a camera and they always seem to drop their smiles, the guy in the right is Shabani and he never stops smiling usually.

Afterwards I was invited to Hassam’s house for lunch, cooked my his lovely Grandmother.

Before every meal they have a little hand washing ceremony where everyone pours water for everyone else to wash their hands in a bowl.

Here I am enthusiastically wolfing down the food. Like many people in the world, Hassans family only eat with their right hand. The grandmother had cooked fish, I was wondering how I could remove the flesh from the bones only using one hand. The answer is you don’t, you eat the bones and all. I even managed a whole head.

Killi is a funny mountain, sometimes it looks very small, like you could walk up it in an afternoon, other times it looks huge.
