This past week has been a busy week. Brent and I started it off with a day of evangelism in Marangu Mwika. Us along with about 10 members from the Moshi congregation drove up the mountain to evangelize to the people of Marangu. It is about a 45min drive for us to get to the village. When we arrived we divided up into our teams to go out and set up some Bible studies. My team was 3 of the African ladies from the church, Abigail, Elizabeth, Teresa and me. So of course the whole time we were walking from study to study I was totally out of the loop on what they were talking about because it was all in Swahili. Every once in a while Abigail would translate their conversation to me to fill me in. The studies however were translated and went very well. We only had 3 hours to conduct studies before we had to be back in Moshi. So we were only able to set up 2 studies that day but they were very productive. In the studies we held we covered that the Bible was total truth and it was inspired by God. We
talked about the true Church and the steps to get into that one true Church. We had to stop the study short because the ladies we were studying with had to leave to go work. It went extremely well and they were very interested. They asked us to come back and study with them some more but one of the ladies wanted us to come back when some of her friends could be there to hear as well. That was truly a blessing and we will be studying with the ladies again as soon as we get a chance!
Then on Tuesday Julie, Emily and I went to the Nursery School to give the kids some books and to teach them a Bible story. When we got there we carried in the material for the story and the huge box of children’s books. We began handing out the books and their faces lit up with joy! They were so happy and they could not get their little hands on those books quick enough. The books were all in English so we walked around and read some of the books to them but mainly they all just looked at the
pictures. After we spent a while reading and playing with all the kids, it was time to teach them a Bible story. All the kids went outside and got lined up, ready to listen. Emily taught the lesson on Jacob and Esau while I showed the pictures. She did a great job teaching, at age 11 she is stepping out of her comfort zone and doing a great work for the Lord. After the lesson, as much as I hated it, it was time to say goodbye to the kids. They sang their goodbye song and took off down the road like they do every day! I love watching them as the run out the gate waving and smiling as they go.
Wednesday we drove to the village of Usa River to attend worship services there that night. Usa river is where my dad was blessed to preach at back in 2004 when the group of us from Grandview went to Tanzania. This is also the village that Aaron Fry preached his first sermon and did an outstanding job. I didn’t get to go with them in 2004, so this past Wednesday was my first time to attend services
Sweet Parsley
This is the little boy who has AIDS there in Usa River. About 8-12 members were present that night along with the 6 of us Wazungu (white people). Brent did the lesson and then answered questions at the close of the service. It went very well and they invited us to return the following Sunday for Brent to preach the lesson. It was a blessing to be able to see some of our bothers and sisters in another village and to be able to talk and visit with them.
Thursday we went to the Kili Kids Orphanage here in Moshi to start a garden for them and to teach them how to work it. Brent knows a great amount about gardening and farming, so he offered to teach them. We arrived that afternoon at about 4:00pm and the kids were so excited to see us. Of course I went in to play and hold the kids for a while before going out to help on the garden. The kids there are so precious and they were all over Emily and I as soon as we walked through the gate. There is a certain little boy named Parsley that lives at the home, he is 2 years old
and is HIV positive. He is so adorable and just loves to be held and loved on. It absolutely kills me to see him as sick as he is. But even being sick and not as strong as he should be at this age he still tries his hardest to play and have fun like all the other kids. Parsley pulls at my heart strings in so many ways.
We gardened until the sun went down. There was so much fun and laughter going on at the same time all the hard work that was being done. Brent with the tiller, trying to teach the older African men there at the orphanage how to run it. Julie, Emily and I with hoes, rakes and shovels hacking away at the ground trying not to hit a kid on the way down. Every single child in the orphanage was out in the dirt wanting to help in any way possible. So we eagerly let them help us make the rows and smooth out the dirt. I loved seeing their tiny little hands getting dirty and helping out. They were so proud of themselves after we were done that day because this
will be their garden and they helped.
Then on Friday we went to Arusha for a meeting on the campaigns that are coming up starting June 2. The campaigns go on for 3 weeks and they are held mainly in Moshi and Arusha. The first week of the campaigns are here in Moshi. We go out every morning door knocking and conduct one on one Bible studies all day. Then later that evening there is a gospel meeting out behind the church building that the whole town is invited to. During the gospel meeting we have a children’s seminar for the kids. The children’s seminar is to teach them about the Bible and to contain them so their parents can be at the meeting without having to worry about them. The second week is the ladies seminar in Arusha and the men’s seminar in Kisongo, they are held from 9am - 2pm. Then the Children’s seminar in Arusha is from 4-6 later that afternoon after the men and women are through. The third week we have the door knocking and the gospel meeting in Arusha just like we do in Moshi the first week. This all takes place during
the month of June and we have visitors from the states coming and going throughout the whole campaign. June is the busiest month of the year and it takes a lot of preparation work by all the missionaries to be get ready for it. Please keep everyone here in your prayers as we prepare for this great work to help spread the word of God throughout Tanzania.
In Christian Love,
Callie

Heart Strings
Wow-Girl you have really grown and I thought Addie would, but we all can see how much your heart and spirit have grown. You have always stood above alot of people, but everyone will agree how much you have grown in only a couple + months. Keep uplifting souls, making memories and taking picures. Love Toscha
