The Moshi Campaign
Ryan Tuten preaching, with Christopher Mwakabunji (sp?) translating during the Moshi campaign. He did a great job, of course, and we are anxious for him to visit again! Habari Rafiki! (Hello Friends),
The last four weeks have been full of excitement as we have enjoyed preparing for, and executing, a successful campaign here in Tanzania! The "Safari for Souls" campaign is a three week campaign in three different towns. This year it began in Moshi. There was door knocking & bible studies in the morning and preaching, children's bible school and bible studies in the evening.
The second week there were Men and Women's Seminars held here in Arusha. The theme this year was "Moving Forward, Back to the Bible". It proved to be a WONDERFUL theme as we heard many great lessons that had to do with going "Back to the Bible" for our answers!
The third week of campaign was held here in Arusha and in Mto Wambu (Mesquito River). This was the busiest week for Sean and I as we were drivers to Mto Wambu every day (As well as the Browns). Again, there was door knocking, bible studies and children's bible school in the morning and preaching and bible studies in the evening. It was a wonderful experience. We had a special treat in that our friends from Hoover, Alabama came over to take part

The guys were a big help in hanging our decorative sheets for the Safari for Souls campaign and Children's' Bible School. in this part of the campaign. The Hoover group is an especially impressive group of people as they came as prepared as they could possibly be. They quickly learned several of the Swahili words and greetings and were EXTREMELY prepared when it came to doing bible studies. We were so proud to say they were "our" visitors 😉. I must say, as a driver I was very nervous. We have not spent any time in Mto Wambu before, so I had NO IDEA where I was going when I dropped all these visiting missionaries off for bible studies (comforting huh?). I was so afraid I would not be able to find them again when it came time to pick them up. I took Callie, a young lady from Texas, with me so she could help me look for land marks. I guess we did alright. We came back with as many as we dropped off! And yes, I do believe they were the same ones I dropped off as well! The Hoover campaigners did not seem to be worried about it at all. They seemed to be right at home. We miss them now that they are gone!
We had a great time at Mesquito River with the children's Bible school as well. It was so fun to see the children enjoying the Bible lessons and the crafts prepared for them. The children here have to grow up so fast. It is nice to see them "just being kids" for a little while. Shasta Brown, one of our group of missionaries living here, has really tackled the Swahili language, so much so that, one day, she was able to teach the entire lesson to the children without a translator! I was so proud of her! The kids just loved her and the numbers continued to increase every day.
Many of the Tanzanian brethren were involved as well. Some of them went out with our campaigners and some on their own. We were especially proud of these brethren. After all, that is what it is all about; teaching the local brethren how to do evangelism and giving them a sense of responsibility for carrying out the Lord's work. Needless to say, there was much accomplished in the Mtu Wambu area for the Lord. The campaign ended with good numbers and many opportunities to reach souls that might not have been reached. Now that it is history, our family finds it "Very Quiet" around here. We miss all the hubbub, but realize it is important for us to get back in to our regular routine with school and such.
Before I close this blog entry, I would like to ask for prayers for my sister, Mary. She is having some serious health problems at this time. She has been in ICU and in surgery twice since last week. I'm still not sure what all happened, I just know she needs prayer and a lot of it. She and I are extremely close, like twins, and I must say I'm a little scared. Thank you, in advance, for praying for her. She means the world to me.
I am so thankful for all you brethren and all you do for our family and the cause of Christ. May God bless you in your service to Him! Love, Anita
Concerning pictures. Still having problems with that. I was able to upload these two photos and will continue to add to them. Sean is still working on it!
