Countdown to Holidays is officially at ONE!!!

Here's my itinerary:

Saturday, May 7 - Leave on bus for Arusha (yucky washrooms thus will not be drinking any fluids until arrival). Let’s all hope that the bus will have a/c this time

Sunday, May 8 - Relax in Arusha, visit with old roommate, enjoy COOLER weather!

Monday, May 9 - FIVE day safari in Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Ngorogoro Crater... hopefully including some chasing of giraffes and/or flamingos (no, not outside of the car, there are lions you know...)

Friday, May 13 - End of safari… sigh…... (hear animals rejoicing in background)

Saturday/Sunday, May 14/15 - More relaxation in Arusha (safari-ing is tough work). Maybe check out that BBQ place that masquerades as an auto-shop by day?

Sunday/Monday, May 15/16 - Leave for Lushoto, a picturesque little town in the Usambara mountains... known for good hiking, beautiful waterfalls, granola, home-made yogurt… and did I mention cooler weather?

Monday-Friday/Saturday, May 16-20/21 - Hiking in the mountains...... yes, you heard me correctly, I DO HIKE, thank you very much…… however, the physical exertion will hopefully be countered with many incidents of mass consumption of granola and yogurt..... may also involve some chasing after monkeys...

Friday/Saturday, May 20/21 - Start to meander back to Dar along the coast of TZ, visiting any random town that strikes our fancy. This, no doubt, will be dependent on the quality of the beautiful beaches along the way!

Sunday, May 22 - God-willing, will arrive in Dar at a decent hour and have some time to unpack in my NEW and FINAL home. I can finally settle in, alas only for 2.5 months, but it’s a done-deal! No more fears of living in a tin shack on the side of the road…

Monday, May 23, 8:00am - Somehow haul my fatigued body to work and smile while daydreaming of the next adventure-holiday to come… (I believe it will be in August?)

Doesn’t it sound wonderful? What a tough life......So excited!!!

Bongoyo Island
The picture does not do it justice but this is an island about 30 minutes away from Dar by ferry. It has nice little hiking trails, clean white beaches and good fish n' chips!

Hatari!
This is us on a mini-hike... we continued on until a nice local told us "hatari" (danger!). Btw, that's Sean and Marlous... and you can just see me peeking out from behind...
