For this leave, Paul and I were going away for a short trip, starting with two nights at Sterkfontein Dam in the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa. It was a couple of hours drive from Johannesburg. We arrived here in the middle of the afternoon and it was a beautiful summer's day. We drove to the dam and went for a little walk. Paul was excited about fishing here. It was quite a picturesque view, with the dam partly surrounded by the Drakensberg mountain range in the distance. The water was very still and not many people about, there wasn't even one boat on the dam. We could see little fish swimming around.
Then Paul became very excited when he caught a long, thin snake. It wasn't a venomous snake, but it still freaked me out. After he released it, he wanted to have a little fish. So we spent more time by the dam, Paul fished and I relaxed by reading.
Finally at about six o'clock, we went to our cabin and unpacked the car. The cabin was right on the lake and it was such a nice view of the sunset. We had decided not to camp,
