01 Elephant
On the other side of the wetland is an elephant. Geo: -24.7605, 26.3246
This afternoon I spent part of my break in the hide. During this hour I saw elephants, various birds, a terrapin, a couple of zebra and a water monitor. When I first arrived there was only a bull elephant in the wetlands. He was standing in the water and eating grass.
At the waterhole in front of me there was a Grey Backed Heron pecking away in the water. On the other side of the waterhole a terrapin emerged from the water and got comfortable on a rock as it began to sun bake.
A little while later a Grey Heron flew down to the waterhole. On the other side of the wetland area a breeding herd of elephants emerged from the bush and drank water.
I then noticed a couple of zebra in the distance that were slowly approaching the wetland area. Back at the other side of the wetlands, the elephant herd was enjoying the water. They drank water and threw mud over themselves. The herd was getting closer to the waterhole.
The zebras finally got close enough to the wetlands and drank water. The zebras then got scared and trotted off. It was now time for me
02 Heron
A Grey Backed Heron. to go and get ready to start work at 5pm. Just before I walked away I noticed a large water monitor walk out of the bush and along the edge of the waterhole.
