During my break this afternoon, I went for a short game drive with Paul. He was driving around the reserve to learn the roads, as he has to know them before he can guide guests. It was quite hot and the chance of good sightings was minimal, but I was happy to go out for a drive.

We stopped to see a few birds. Otherwise the only animals we saw were a herd of impala. The impalas were standing, ears listening. It seemed that they have heard something or smelt danger. At one stage they were all facing to the right and then they started facing to the left. In the end they continued to eat grass again.

We didn't seem much else. After another hour of driving Paul drove us back to the lodge.
