01 Common Duiker
The Common Duiker that ran past our room. Geo: -28.6327, 30.0146
This morning we decided to not go on a morning game drive. We had a sleep in and then enjoyed a coffee as we sat on our deck. From here we saw common duiker walking and eating. At about 9am we went to the lodge for brunch. From after brunch until three o'clock we relaxed around the lodge and our room. We spent time reading on our deck, sitting by the pool and having a nap.
Brett, Paul and I then headed in the direction of the animal rehabilitation centre. Along the way we did not see anything very exciting. Once again we interacted with the young animals. The meerkat was my first animal that I cuddled. We watched the leopard enjoy his lunch of a whole raw chicken. The young cheetahs were also enjoying a meal of raw meat. The green boomslang that was hibernating a few days was in exactly the same position, which reassured me! We spent quite a bit of time in the young serval/young cheetah enclosure. As Paul lay on the ground to photograph them, the servals and cheetahs climbed all over him. The cats were having a great time, and so was Paul! I
02 Pool
The pool that overlooked the game reserve. enjoyed patting and cuddling these cats. This was such a great experience.
Brett then drove us back to the lodge. We had an early dinner. Paul and Brett were going out tonight to take photos of the stars. I choose to stay at the lodge. I didn't think I would enjoy sitting out in the cold in the middle of winter. Instead I had a bubble bath and did lots of reading in bed. A few hours later they returned and Paul was very happy with his photos. Sadly for us, this was our last night here.
The sightings of the day were cheetah, meerkat, common duiker, hippo, impala, leopard, serval, warthog and zebra.
