This afternoon we entered the Isimangaliso Wetland Park, which is South Africa's first place to be declared a World Heritage Site. To begin with we were camping at Cape Vidal, which was 35km from the entrance and then in a few days moving to a cabin.

This place should be ideal for both of us, as we are able to do game drives, swim in the ocean, fish and not too far a drive from town. On the drive from the gate to the campsite we were very lucky to see a black rhino. We also saw kudus, zebra, waterbuck, wildebeest, warthogs, more rhinos and a couple of buffaloes. This park was very green and there were not many trees at all. The roads were all tarred and so different to Madikwe Game Reserve.

Paul pre-booked us a campsite that he liked from his last visit here. As we drove to the site, we saw a mother bushbuck and her young. The campsite is in the dune forest, a minute from the beach. I loved the location and the ablutions block was very nice too. We set-up our campsite and went for a walk to the local shop and

along the beach.

Monkeys are a real problem here and they were all over the place, watching us and waiting for us to let down our guard. We were very careful and also had our water gun full of water to try to scare them away.

During our barbecue that night, we had a nocturnal animal come and visit – a bush pig. We heard it rustling around in the bushes near us. Using our torches we could then see it. I was a bit scared of it as it is quite a large animal. It sniffed around for a bit and then walked away.

We heard it again later on in the night when we were sleeping. It knocked over the bin and had a good rummage.
