01 Dam
The dam in the bird sanctuary. Geo: -26.6833, 25.4667
After an early lunch we packed the car and set off for a short trip. We were going to Barberspan Bird Sanctuary for a few days of fishing and relaxation. I didn't know what to expect. All I knew is that I am not a fan of fishing for more than 2 hours and staying away for 5 nights didn't sound like too much fun.
A few hours later we arrived. Luckily we were staying in a house called Pelican House. There were 4 bedrooms, kitchen and large living area. The only thing we didn't have was a TV, air conditioning or a fan. Paul's friends Jason, Tammy, Ken and Arrant were also staying with us and loved fishing.
It was about a few minutes drive to the dam. There were quite a few different bird varieties about. Everyone except me was fishing. I walked around. Saw a few barbel (carp) skulls. They are quite big fish with many pointy teeth.
Paul had success and caught a few fish. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and then went back to the house to cook dinner.
