Tuesday 20th March

Arrived Cape Town 7.00am. Wonderful flight as it was empty only about 100 people on the Jumbo. Traffic was a nightmare from the airport and it took an hour and thirty minutes. The un-licensed mini cabs are lunatics weaving and cutting up everyone! Caught first views of table mountain, it is magnificent. Arrived at Jardin D’Ebene, fabulous contemporary African guesthouse. Staying here for 4 nights. Walked down from guesthouse to V&A Waterfront. They thought we were mad to walk. It seems like the united states in that nobody walks, everyone drives. Had a couple of beers in a Belgium bar on the waterfront, and watched the seals basking in the midday sun.

Took the city tour bus, which was great. Cape Town is a small yet bustling city with beautiful spectacular scenery.

It was quite hot, and Kirsten got a bit burnt. The sun seems really strong here, but the main thing is the light, it is so bright. Caught a cab back from the V&A to the guesthouse, wasn’t sure if the cab was going to make it. It was falling apart around us. Met up with Marli in the evening, and she drove

us to the northern suburbs in Cape Town where we met up with Yolanda and Gabriel. We ate at the Cape Town Fish Market which served Sushi and fresh Fish. Really enjoyed it.

Ta Ta for now. M & K
