Last day in Cape Town ends on a great view!
G’day
We have arrived in sunny but windy Perth- all well apart from Simon’s bag, which decided it wanted to stay in South Africa for an extended holiday! So we had to go and buy some new clothes on the South African Airlines budget! It has never been easier for Simon to buy clothes, as it wasn’t his money!
Last day in Cape Town.

The Last day in Cape Town was one of the best. We meet up with one of Cath’s friends that she met at Harken U, Skye from Harken SA. He picked us up (in his Harken car) and took us for our own tour. First stop the Harken offices, much to Cath’s excitement (it was great to see how they work! Cool offices, the warehouse is the size of Harken UK’s kitchen.)
We went onto Skye’s local break. (local surfing spot if you were wondering). These were some amazing beaches to the north of Cape Town with the whole view of the city and ‘that mountain’ in the background. It highlighted how brilliant this city really is with the ocean and mountain!
The next stop was another lovely beach and a rather damp walk through the

scissors (waves that break in a V shape) to a small island for photos. The boys were ok as they are taller, but short Cath got soaked! Pictures were worth it thou! After all this walking it was definitely time for cocktails so we headed up to a local eatery on the beach to enjoy drinks and watch the sun go down on another day. Going on the local advice I was told the jam jar cocktail was the one to savour… Oh what could it be, a sweet preserve type cocktail… No this cocktail turned up in the biggest JAM JAR ever made, check out the photos. Hic,,,

Last week was a great experience; we flew to Jo’burg and stayed at the Ritz, Note the name because it certainly was not the Ritz! But never mind we were not here for long. About 7 hours, up at 4:30am! To catch the bus to the Kruger National Park, 8 bum numbing hours later we reached Kruger. I had not realised how big Africa was!!! The pains were forgotten within 20 minutes whene were greeted with our first treats seeing Elephants and a Giraffe (Cath has gone Giraffe crazy, I

don’t understand, what a weird animal) really close up in their natural environment.
After our first few hours in the park we had already seen 3 of the big five, including a leopard which was very difficult to spot. That evening we went on a night drive. Here we saw a huge pack of lions which included cubs and large males fighting within metres of the truck. Scary check the photos.
Day two started at 3:30am in time for the sun rise an amazing sight, we saw a White Rhino with baby and an elephant that had just given birth to ‘Dumbo’. We drove north up the park- another long drive to our next camp, while dinner was cooking on the brai we had a 4 tonne elephant come to say hello just metres from our tents with a flimsy electric fence protecting us, a few more drinks were needed to help us sleep that night.
On our last morning drive we were surrounded by a herd of elephants what a slight… Much to Catherine’s delight we saw about 20 giraffes closer than we see the New Forest pony… We also saw the buffalo to complete the big five. We

Another great view...
were really pleased to seen them all as people we had spoken to had only seen one or two!
As we were only on a 3 day tour and the others a 4, we were chauffer driven the 500 km back to the Ritz! In an air conditioned vehicle unlike what we had been travelling in for the last few days!

We will start to tell you about Perth as soon as we get a moments peace from this stressful life!, beach, drink, barbie, sleep, beach, drink, pool, ... I don't know how we are going to fit it in!!

Loads of Love
