The weekends at camp can become very wild indeed, and this weekend was to be no different except that this weekend started on Thursday evening. After packing for a weekend away Myself, Mel, Nicola, Chris, Andrea and T travelled about 45 minutes outside Hoedspruit with Adele & Bee.
We were going to spend some time in a private lodge by the river. So once we arrived and shown to our rooms it was time to unpack the cooler box and enjoy a nice cool beer whilst watching the river pass by us.
After a few beers I was introduced to a beautiful young lady called Jessica. We spent quiet abit of time together over the next couple of hours and after abit of time we became very close. At one stage I was giving her a massarge on her back, which she really enjoyed. I even discovered that the back of a young ladies neck and ears are very soft.
It was now time for her to go, she would be back again the following morning. So I went back to the lodge where we were all treated to a fantastic bria of Steak and salad. After the meal
we sat around the camp fire that we had made and started chatting and playing camp fire games (Ok with Shooters called springbock) so as you can imagine a very loud and fun night was had by all.
In the morning I awoke, not remembering that my bed was under a Buffalo's head mounted on the wall. To say i jumped out of my skin was quiet near the truth.
As promised I met Jessica in the morning for breakfast and we has Tea and Cookies together. After a quick kiss it was time for us to all go back to camp. Except in true South African spirit there is always something that happens and this time it was the Battery in the Combi that was flat as one of us had not closed the door properly and had drained the battery. So we were stranded for about an hour whilst Tony, owner of the lodge made makeshift jump leads and then we were off home again.
Did I forget to tell you that Jessica has a Hippo !!!!!!!!! Jessica was a baby hippo when Shirley and tony found her washed up on the
bank of the river by their house about 8 years ago. After feeding her she was fit enough to go back to the wild, except Jessica had other ideas. She now spends her time either in the river by the house or in the house with Shirley and Tony. She even has her own Mattress in the house were she sleeps. She is the only human friendly hippo in the world and so have the honour of spending the night with her was something i will never forget. When i first met her and the Thursday evening i was able to feed her cookies and even give her a kiss (now how many people can say they have kissed a hippo, a few dogs or pigs maybe) I was even able to rub my feet over her back whilst she floated by the jetty.
Jessica has appeared in many documentries and films over the years and even has the rich and famous from hollywood visit her from time to time.
A great hippo and a great place to stay too.
