We left our camp at 5.30am to ensure we got to the gates of Hluhluwe-Imfozi sadari park at 6am when it opened. We used the 4WD vehicles in the park and it was not long until we saw our first White Rhino! These are an endangered species and this park is the best place in the world to see them. Later on we were very lucky to see them very close, as well as zebras, elephants, antelope, giraffes, and birds of prey,

We were supposed to have a BBQ for lunch but it was raining so we went to a restaurant where I had an ostrich burger. It has a distinctive taste but very appetising.

By the time we left the park it was raining quite hard. We still stopped by the estuary at St Lucia despite the rain and then walked a short distance to find the Indian Ocean. It was far too cold for a swim! Hippos are known to walk into the town of St Lucia at night and are dangerous as they cannot see where they are going.
