Well Well, Where to begin!!
I cant even remember what I wrote on my last blog!!
Our group of 15 has been split into two groups, one stays at Othandweni home and their supervisor is Lloyd and the other go's to Masibambisane centre their supervisor being Lebo. I am in the group that are at Masi, The center has 219 children that pass through everyday, Its madness!!!
You have alsorts of duties, we arrive at the center for 8.30, and everybody, even the creche children gather in either the halls or outside and have prayers and devotion, it's so nice to see and their voices... WOW!
Then its cleaning and duties, there are many things to do at the center.beading, pc training for the other volunteers, kitchen duties, creche, gardening, home visits. Everybody is so helpful and friendly!
Right now I am trying to arrange for a company to come down to the center and fix their jungle gym and see who will help sort their basketball court as its gotten in a bit of a mess over time. Also I was chosen to help organise and negotiate a day out for the grannys of the orphaned children at the center. They are going out to the cinema at Maponya Mall, and then having lunch at a bar grill named Tuscan. Such a great thing to be involved in, their day out is Friday 29th Oct, so I will update you next week on how it went!!
The Creche children at the center, cheeky is not the word!! their so adorable but wow they can misbehave!! Its funny!! They go out on the jungle gym and I dont think I have ran this much in so long!! its tyring but fun!! The only thing I would like to try and introduce to the creche is more structure and learning as I think it's becoming a little complacent in there, which is understandable if your the one teacher all day everyday. So a few of us are going to see how we can help in that respect.
There have been a couple of disagreements or misunderstandings this week. I think some people are forgetting how long we're for and the reason why we're here!! Im just doing what I came here to do and anything else, for example, the grannys event, I get to do is a big bonus.
Thats it for now, my time runs out so fast!! see ya next week!! xx
