Beaten up van that took us to Hogsback and back! After leaving P.E. we got on the Baz Bus at 6:30am the next day!! We travelled 3 hours to a coastal town called East London where we had to wait at a hostel to be picked up by a shuttle bus to take us out to Hogsback which is 3 hours inland from the coast. We ended up waiting for 2 hours but it wasnt too bad because there was a free pool table! Our shuttle turned up.....a little white van which looked like it was about to break down at any moment but somehow it managed to get us out to Hogsback where we are staying in a hostel called Away with the Fairies. Hogsback is actually where J.R.R. Tolkien got his inspiration from to write The Hobbit and then went on to write Lord of the Rings so everyhting in the hostel is kind of fairy-related! But not in a 8-yr-old girl fairy way, more like a bit creepy magical fairies! Wall paintings in the hostel are all of fairies and magical stuff, and the scenery is all trees and valleys and is absolutely stunning. The hostel is lovely and we're really glad we came even though it was

On a hike around Hogsback, Jamie, Caitlin and Paul who were in the same hostel as me in Cape Town and I arranged to meet them on the bus going to Hogsback from Jeffreys Bay a long trip inland, everyone we'd spoke to had recommended it to us so we thought we had better come! There is only a tiny supermarket but the hostel has a scottish chef who was incredible so we have eaten dinner here all 3 nights! We have been for a hike through the forest to three different waterfalls, one of which is huge and you can swim underneath it, was pretty cold though! The hostel is cool and you wake up in the morning to little monkeys running outside your window and the sound of baboons calling to each other in the distance. We also saw 2 Cape Parrots one evening, of which there are only 300 left in the wild. Tonight is our last night here and tomorrow we get the rickety van back to East London where we get on the bus and go to Coffee Bay, a coastal resort about 3 hours from East London.
