Xhosa Houses
Buy one get one free on green paint obviously It was shite!
Got up for a long drive to Coffee Bay on the Wild Coast, our stop on route to Addo Elephant Park. We had heard good things about Coffee Bay from other travellers and as it was half-way to Addo it seemed a good idea. The first nightmare was the endless drive from the N2 to the coast, which seemed to take forever. Rach was kept amused by all the colourful houses and rondavels dotted along the hillside - did they have a special offer on turquoise paint? We eventually arrived at the tiny beachside resort which has only two hostels - Bomvu Paradise and Coffee Shack. We opted for the later because Bomvu seemed a bit hippyfied with yoga classes and drum making sessions. Our hostel had the very strange arrangement of positioning all the accommodation in rondavels on the opposite side of the river to the main hostel office, bar and restaurant. At high tide in the evening you had to roll your socks and trousers up and paddle across to the bar. This might sound vaguely romantic but we imagine it isn't much fun in the pitch black dark. Especially as Jase kept getting harrassed
Coffee Bay
Jase pretending to enjoy himself by the local drug dealer trying to sell him weed and coke. We drove around the long way via the bridge to get our free dinner. We soon skuttled back to our depressing little room to escape the bar where you could only drink with your left hand (far too Student Union for Jase). The only positive was it was quite nice being so close to the sea and to listen to the sound of the sea first thing in a morning.
