After 5 days in Kigali, we decided to sign up for a "community based" tour in Ruhengeri, about 2 hours north. We boarded a bus for $3 and off we went! Everyone gets together to peel a monsterous pile of bananas ... it only takes about 30 minutes.

First you peel them, then you find strong boys to smush them! They do this for about 30 minutes. Banana flys everywhere!

30 minutes of banana smushing will get you a few litres of banana juice. It is crazy sweet!

First you buy them, then you peel them, then you smush them, then you add some other stuff to them, then you find a thirsty boy to drink!

I love these photos and all the info, y'know I love the Batwa and the Mbuti tribes' culture. It looks like it was a lot of fun to visit Rwanda. Thank you for sharing!
