What other religions are out there?? Well let's go to Nigeria were the Yoruba religion is practiced. Practitioners of the Yoruba Religion, which was developed among the Yoruba people of Nigeria and Benin, believe that before we are born we stand before God and choose our own destiny. They believe that we decide before we ever arrive on earth what we will contribute to the world . For example, where we will live, who we will love, and even the day we will die. However, when we are born into the world all of our plans and promises are forgotten and so our destiny in effect becomes to remember and claim the destiny we mapped out for ourselves before our arrival in this life. They focus more on living life right now. They are also really big on inner peace and how there are people or spirits who watch over you called Orishas. There are several types of Orishas and they all are the link between the living and the spirits. Yoruba worship invites the Orishas to come and manifest themselves personally
