travelling Namibia alone

Hi,
I will be travelling Namibia by myself mid August and was wondering if anybody has some advise on car rentals. I am not too much concerned about that fact that I will travel alone as I've been around the world by myself but this is the first time I will rent a car to go through the desert. Any suggestions on how to avoid getting stuck alone in the middle of nowhere.

Any ideas will bemost appreciated.
