I love this group of sequential photos. The female had decided she had had enough. After a few growls she got up to leave and the male followed closely behind. I love the way they are looking at us here. It was very windy that day and even though they where close the growls where somewhat muffled by the wind. I love the strength, independence, yet loyalty these photos portray to me. It is all that is good and right in Africa is projected through them. To look at these two here in this photo is to look at things the way I believe they are meant to be. How could anyone look at these animals and not feel that this is worth moving heaven and earth to protect. It's as if these two lions are a symbol of Africa, her fighting spirit, strength, incomparable beauty and tolerance. I know it may seem really mushy but it was an amazingly powerful moment.
