After our first experience through the mountains, I asked Ibrahim regularly if we needed to travel back on the same road. Yes, he solemnly assured me. Then on our last dy, he announced that he would be happy to take us back via a different route, so that we could see more of his beautiful country. An extra 100 miles but no problem.
I was very very happz, expecting that this meant no mountain passes. Unfortunately, what it actually meant was TWO mountain passes. We now were travelling through the middle Atlas mountains, in addition to the HIgh Atlas we traversed on our first day.
This southern route was no where near as lush as the northern passage we had originally taken, but it was beautiful in its own way. Again, photos will do it more justice than my words....
