We got sick of waiting for the visas- Mauritania was most difficult and we left the passports in Rabat while we headed on to Volubilis which is a Roman city inhabited for several hundred years and almost the furtherest from Rome. Some of us went to Casablanca for the day from Rabat and its magnificant King Hassas 11 MosqueThings were getting bloody freezing and only got worse bush camping in the desert and then on to Fez another big city. It was time for the High Atlas and going through the highest pass of 2241 metres it was very very cold with fresh snow on the ground but despite chattering teeth the snow capped Atlas were beautiful. We are now in Marrakech and it has been raining almost full time so still cold. Marrakech which Phil had missed on previous visits. There is still evidence of the Hippy 60s. The main square is full of juice shops, dried fruit, snake charmers who demand money for photos and the night market. So we leave Marrakech tomorrow for southern Morocco and hopefully dry weather and the Western Sahara.
