Morocco was a French protectorate from 1912 and achieved independence in 1956. The northern area of Morocco was under a Spanish protectorate concurrently. Morocco is the first country to recognize the United states when she declared independent in 1777 and Morocco shows the loyal friendship with the U.S. as an oldest friend under the treaty. 99% of Moroccans are Muslim with the Berber descent.
