Summary: Casablanca does not have much, just a big mosque which is worth seeing. In Marrakech airport bus is very good to get to city center. Casablanca to Marrakech train or bus are much convenient than taking a flight.
We reached here yesterday night, the flight was OK. At airport it took long time to get out of immigration because the person at our counter was really slow. I think that rarely see Indian tourists so he was quite amused at our passport. He flipped through all the visas showing it to person on next counter. Thankfully we had enough time to catch the one an hour train into the city. The way to hotel was long, treason and then tram and then quite a bit of walking. But we finally reached by 9:00pm.
25th December
This is just like another day here which suited us fine. Banks were open so we did some money exchange. Then we walked down to medina area. The one here is not touristy. It was mostly for locals. We ate a nice paratha and some sooji thing. Then we got some really good oranges and then headed out of the maze. After lot
of walking we reached the famous Hassan mosque with its really high minaret. The mosque is built right at water front, covers a huge area and is beautiful. We spent some time there and then walked back to our hotel.
For lunch we decided to go to a place called Tulik. It was written as vegetarian but was mostly a disappointment. We had a overpriced wrap with almost nothing in it and a soup. Then headed back to train station for our flight. At the train station the automatic ticket machine seemed overloaded. The first one said it cannot give a 20 dhm change. So then we put 50 in it and the machine ate our 50! It got stuck and we never saw anything back. We were running out of time so we just used another machine and forgot the 50. We got ticket just in nick of time and ran down to catch our train to airport. From there it was smooth ride to Marrakech.
Marrakesh
In Marrakech, we took the bus from airport. There was no one else in the bus. The bus is fast and comfortable, don't know why people don't take that
The Mosque
Built right on the water front (Atlantic ocean) instead. I hope more people took bus and supported public transport. Finding our riad was not that way, it's in a corner. We found it with help of a local. In the Riad they tried to make us feel welcome, showed us the room. Then we headed out to get dinner. Entered the Medina and market here. This one is made for the tourists, it was clear. At the El Fna square there are a lot of eating places in the middle, all the same. We picked one, ordered a vegetarian tagine and couscous. They were quite tasteless, no salt no spices. I cannot believe that is what locals eat, its probably there for European tourists.
