“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth (mourning attire) and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.” Psalms 30:11-12
We pray this prayer for all those affected over the last month in the sad events happening in the USA. We pray for comfort and that hearts full of sorrow can make their way back to joy. In Kenya the people have experienced such pain as well. Imagine if you will, the little girl that lives a neighborhood away in a dirty little house. Liquor flows more freely than love. Hands that should serve and be gentle act as hands that hurt and bring disgrace. Food that should be on the table is nowhere to be found. The little girl feels emptiness. She is tired of abuse, of feeling like there is nowhere to run. She cries silently on the outside but moans deeply on the inside. Who will answer her cries? For those who have helped build Talitha Koum…you have helped answer her cries! Pastor Stanley, Alice and the wonderful staff at Spring Valley Academy have helped answer her cries. Christine of HOREC orphanage has helped answer her cries. Her Creator is answering her cries. There are 36 children at HOREC orphanage and 50 children who just joined the Talitha Koum Rescue Center who sing Talitha Koum's girls
The first 50! Since moving into the dorm the girls' grades have improved as well as some emotional issues. the song above found in the Bible.
Their garments of mourning and despair have been left at the door and they are now clothed with joy. Praises and words of gratefulness flow from their mouths. The tears have been dried and hope has replaced hopelessness. Upon the completion of Talitha Koum 100 girls and 50 boys will find refuge. Originally the vision was to only take in girls. However, some of the boys have stories just as horrendous as the girls. And Pastor Stanley knows in order to raise men of character, they must be taught by men of character. The task of rescuing and educating the boys will help break some of the cycles of abuse by teaching alternatives of respect, care, character and more. It is no small task to take on so many children but because there are people willing to do it, I am honored that we can stand with them in support. ITHM wants to continue playing a part in rescuing, rehabilitating and equipping children for the future. My prayer is that you will continue with us. I will be heading to Kenya in June with an action packed team from More supplies
Each child receives a bucket for laundry, bath soap, detergent, and hygiene products. Terrace Lakes Community Church. We will be doing hands on projects as far as painting in the rescue center, building bookshelves for the library and putting books on the shelves (we have had a nice supply of donations of books and more coming in July), educating the community about human trafficking, teaching first aid to the community as well as working with the children of Spring Valley Academy, HOREC, and Into Abba’s Arms.
Champion Forest Baptist Church, TX just returned from their trip. Global Hope of Colorado will be heading there next month. Pinellas Community Church, FL in July and First United Methodist Church-Durango will be making their way in August to join hands and hearts in service to the children. If you would like to help equip the rescue center for more children they are still in need of 50 beds @ $180 for a bunk bed frame and two mattresses. If you want to make a donation towards those or any other project/place please make a tax deductible check to: ITHM 23223

With all the suffering in the world it is ever so important to make an impact with the time, talents and resources that we have been given. And to hear the children happily sing songs with lyrics of “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent….” It makes it all worth it. Let me string those 8 letters together to form my own little song of “Thank you”! Eight little letters are barely enough to express the song in my heart concerning your generosity. However, I sing it with joy. Jennifer Phillips Lawrence
