Preparation
The crowd gathers to pray over the land. With all their hearts they hope there will be fresh water found deep beneath the dry, dusty soil on which they stand. One year ago many hearts were weary with worry…we were not sure where the funds for food and education were going to come from for Spring Valley Academy in Kenya. We had a vision for a rescue center and a tiny plot of land, but nothing else. There was talk of wanting a water well but knowing the astronomical cost it was just that, talk. Here we are, one year later. The children have received their daily food, their minds and souls have been nourished with education and scripture. Four out of five floors of the Rescue Center are built and yesterday, a drilling machine arrived on the property of Spring Valley Academy and on Friday they hit water! Our blessings are overflowing…. That water…that precious, cool, clean water…how it washes the grime away and refreshes the body. I can just hear the squeals of excitement of the community as they come out from their shanty homes to watch a miracle take place. To watch dry land turn mush as water shoots out from the ground. It means that they will no longer have to carry their heavy water jugs long distances in search of water. Their burden has been lightened.
Let’s just compare. For Thanksgiving, I used water to shower to start my day, water to wash the veggies, water to wash our hands after touching turkey, ham, etc, water to wash my two year old’s face…20 times, water to flush, water to clean the counters, water to wash the dishes, etc. etc. etc. In Kenya, if you do not have running water, you ration out your 25 liters (6.6 gallons...weighing 55 lbs. that had to be carried) for the day. It definitely makes all these daily chores a lot more difficult. What a relief…oh, what a relief for all those who have lives to live and need water to make the job easier. The excitement is just a shadow in comparison as to when a person finds the source of Living Water. Water that washes the soul of sin and despair. Water that washes a heart clean and gives new life…a deeper, more abundant life. Water that never runs dry…never, ever! John 7:37-39
New International Version (NIV) 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me The rig
Driving onto the property and drink.
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
A glimpse of Heaven… Revelation 7:16-17 New International Version (NIV) 16 ‘Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. 17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to Springs of Living Water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” The water at SVA was given as a gift out of the gushing love of one Texan. To her we say thank you! All the other gifts...prayers, finances for the Rescue Center, food, education, provision, love, and support in so many forms, for ITHM, SVA and HOREC, they have come out of the flowing love of so many. We thank you all!
