Hey guys, Apologies that its taken me a while to do the next installment of this but i'm a busy boy y'know? So since last time!i've started teaching properly now and it's been a mixed bag really. Some of the students are shockingly bad, like they can't do anything because their education up until now has been pretty shoddy and then there's kids who are stupidly intelligent (like, wellllll more intelligent than I was at that age or perhaps even now) and the divide makes it really difficult to teach them all at the same pace. Hey guys! I'm getting pretty good at this blog malarky!We have the day off school today because of Eid Al-Fitr (end of muslim fasting) so I thought I would update you all!So.....what have I been up to you may ask? Well!After the last entry we were pretty much just sitting around observing classes and waiting for Roy and Danielle (2 of the other volunteers) to get to our school on Friday before we headed off to Butre beach the next day. School was pretty quiet cause they never do anything on a Friday then things took a slightly bizzare twist!After my power nap (such a hard life eh!) I went outside to see 40 schoolchildren cutting the grass...with machetes!then there was a massive commotion and all these kids started running around machetes above they're heads. Akwaaba!Welcome to my blog! I apologise that it's taken me this long to get onto the internet but I am in Africa. I'm currently sitting in an internet cafe in Takoradi, Western Region, Ghana. It's about 30 degrees and stupidly sunny, how's about that for making you jealous! The first 10 days of my trip have been pretty cool. We arrived pretty late on the 14th into Accra and we're picked up by our rep Henry. Your first few moments in Africa are pretty intense to say the least and they don't really wait around to start trying to scam money out of you (people here are stupidly friendly, but they also think that everyone is loaded and can just throw money around). Finally made it to Takoradi, at 9pm- seriously dark! Maybe it wasn't such a good idea that Bobbi and I hadn't booked a room, as we were dragging our big bags around the city, looking for a hotel with decent prices. Armenla Hotel was a bargain for good sized bedrooms, but the toilets didn't lock.. hmm. The following day we literally went in circles around Takoradi, looking for a bank to change my traveller's cheques. Was very annoying to find out they were outside the city! So we decided to make our way to our next destination: Green Turtle Lodge (again). Bobbi hadn't been there and we thought it would be a good place to unwind before coming back home. Green Turtle lodge

Anna, Mieke, Meg (volunteers at Royal Seed) and myself travelled to Takoradi (south west of Ghana) by tro tro for 4 hours. We booked a room at Green Turtle Lodge for the weekend, which came to a bargain of 10Ghana cedis a night at student rate!! The idealic place is pretty much isolated on the beach with no mobile reception. There were a number of red thatched huts with small solar panels for accomodation, as well as tents at a cheaper price. Not only did the huts make the place feel likle an exotic holiday, but the coconut trees, bright flowers and birds which I rarely see here in Ghana.
