012910 Cruising the Nile
This is not our ship. It's bigger than ours. I never got a picture of our ship. We docked about 8 ships out. I got to bed about 10:30pm last night but didn’t sleep too well, it’s the 7 hour time difference from home. We had to get up at 6am for a tour of the Edfu Temple. This is the best preserved temple on the Nile because was buried in dirt for a long time. The temple was started in 237 BC and finished around 57 BC. The ceiling is not all restored because they ran out of funding. One of the walls has a script for a play. There is a picture of each character and their script! Most of the faces on the walls were scrapped off long ago as new powers came in. If the faces are scrapped off then they are unknown.
We are about 71 miles south of Luxor and will be sailing up the Nile for the rest of today heading to Luxor. It’s 12:30pm Saturday afternoon and I’m listening to CNN to find out what’s happening in Cairo. I’m really, really hoping everything settles down. CNN had on last night that Delta (our carrier) was canceling all flights to Cairo as of today. We don't know what the tour company wants us to do yet.
It's wait and see.
I have pictures of the workers cleaning the windows on the ships. There is about 4-5 feet between the windows of the boats.
In the evening we had an Egyptian get together with a belly dancer show. We dressed up like an Egyptian, played games like hot potato and just had some fun.
