26-11-7 hitchhike to bomaderry and train to sydney.
27-11-7 flying over red center seeing great patches of salt pan shining white. changi airport transfer and on to egypt. cairo driver straddled road lines in preference to lanes through grimy littered streets past fortress/monumental style buildings of crumbling grey concrete on way to hotel.
28-11-7 from hotel window the rubble of destroyed illegal additions and household trash thrown from neighboring flats covered the tops of buildings. scene from grey brown hell. out in to those cruddy streets choked with traffic and foul air we found the nile flowing serenly. sky cleared as we sat on riverside terror target sipping lemonade. later national archaeology museum awesome. the extraordinary tut tomb artefact collection, ebony, ivory and gold. so much stuff you couldn't imagine it would fit in. and in other huge galleries endless collections. kate caused crowd and she enjoyed talking but guard fearing harrasment banished two groups. back on the street and fearing for my stomach still managed to eat what i immediately worried would destroy it, meat things and pickled stuff. still on food stall street saw exotic edibles. got baklava.
29-11-7 off to pyramids, met omar, taxi to horse neighborhood. kate on camel. trash strewn sand and stone along cncrete surrounding security wall and finally through to pyramid scene. awesome three in a row. now me on camel, kate on horseback past tombs. sphinx!!! heading back to city traffic locked, we're down dirty narrow slums, bicycle bloke bumped and fell. then abondon vehicle to subway where we get on all female car!! kate laughing we raced back for mixed carriage to ataba station and falafel.
