14 December, 2012 Waving goodbye to Sudan, we headed off into the Egyptian dark. Having grown up in Australia, I had no idea that when I left in December, 1998, I wouldn't go back. After working and travelling in the northern hemisphere for over 13 years, I then quit everything to travel through Africa in 2012. Since then I have also travelled the Silk Route and in 2015 moved to Bangkok, Thailand. The more I travel, the longer the lists of places to go grows, not shrinks. Despite its size, the library was quiet apart from a soothing murmur.

The Australian Memorial at El Alamein

The battle at El Alamein took place between July and November, 1942 to halt the German advance. The Australian 9th Division joined the British in June and although successful, the loss was immense with 1,225 killed, 3,638 wounded and 946 taken prisoner.

on completing the blogs of your Africa trip and being inducted into the TB Hall of Fame...intended to encourage your continued blogging of your impending Silk Road trip. I saw your Dragoman itinerary and it is fantastic. My son and I traveled the China and Uzbekistan portions exactly a year ago, so look forward to your impressions.
