Dahab

Our Arrival

Dahab means gold in Arabic and this golden coast is the Koh Sami of the Middle East we arrived to Dahab accompanied by Mick & Sandra a mother son team from our tour. After a ferry ride across the Red Sea and a long ride in a crowded minibus we were led to a beachfront area covered in pillows and low tables with a fantastic view of the gulf of Aquba across from Saudi Aeabia after a minute we all looked at each other and laughed as Sandra said in her usual style " How lucky are we!?" here this photo attempts to capture the moment... I guess you had to be there

St Catherines monestary

After a hail (!!)storm yesterday in this sunny resort town we looked on the bright side because we experienced history in Dahab it has not hailed here in 20 yrs! Today we visited St Catherines monestary and saw the burning bush. we all touched it for good luck

Camels and conquering

In order to conquer the climbing of Mt Sinai ,a grueling 2 hr climb ,we took camels for the trek up the camel path after, we climbed the 750 steps of repentence Because of the high altitude we had to stop several times

We did it !

As the 4 of us conquered our personal battles climbing the moutain we slapped each other on the back as Sandra said how lucky are we ! we enjoyed the sunset as we treked back down the mountain -another 2 hour affair Climbing it, we now know how Moses felt -it is a tough one !

We are alone now

Sandra and Mick have flown off to Cairo so we are left to swim and lounge by the Sea drinking tea, fresh juice and play backgammon by ourselves, no matter we have the cats to keep us company.

Dear Sandra & Mick

We are having a terrible time without you. We spend our days swimming , snorkeling and walking along the Gulf of Aquba, shopping a little and playing backgammon with our new friends - the little girls who sell their wares and the hotel staff. Sometimes we play by ourselves and sip freshly "squoosed " juices and cinammon tea and Frank even won one game. Tonight we will bargain for our fish and sip wine on the seaside. Wish you were here!
