As a child reading about the great Egypt civilisation in particular learning about the pyramids and the incredible artefacts; this indeed was a dream destination for me.
Visited Cairo only, met all my expectations - the rush and bustle of a major city and splendour and magnificence of the pyramids.
I undertook a personal tour of the pyramids, visited the museum and a small cruise on the Nile.
My advice: read on the history and civilisation before your visit; then everything is appreciated as every monument, every carving, every view has a story. Stay in a good hotel near the Nile - its cooler and the view are fantastic. Drink plenty of bottled water.
Don’t spend time in shops and bazaars buying novelties - use this time on the sites and walks; your camera is the best tool for momentums.
A long weekend is sufficient.
