The biggest city and the capitol of modern Egypt was a breath of fresh air when we stepped off the plane after a long trip from Bombay. we visited a carpet factory and they make carpets by hand one stitch at a time. this guy is making a picture on the carpet from the picture in front of him.

a finished carpet. they were selling one carpet that took a whole family a year to make for 15000 us dollars. egytian cotton of course.

cotton in its raw form. i guess it has a pretty good reputation, b/c its a really good selling point, well at least thats what they try persuade you to believe when selling t-shirts.
