Cairo to Istanbul 2007
Bill Clayton Here it is April 27 2007; only a month from now I will be standing in Cairo, Egypt; ready to being our 37 day "Truck Expedition" from Cairo to Istanbul, through Egypt,Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey.

More information about the trip is available on the website for Oasis travel, the company that runs the "Expedition Vehicle". Here is the descriptive info:

I will be traveling with my college buddy Dennis Weber, who is a high school chemistry/physics teacher in Yuma AZ. Dennis is an experienced world traveler, and he and I have traveled the Trans Siberian Railway from Beijing to Moscow (1999) and the southern Silk Road from Istanbul to Beijing (2004).

Other than that, the truck holds about 20 people if that many purchase a seat, and has a driver and a guide for the trip. We will be camping out part of the time; (one notable site is the desert headquarters of Lawrence of Arabia in Jordan)

I will be posting on this travel site every few days, kind of depends how often we have access to an internet cafe or wi-fi connection.
