An essential part of travel - so which airport do you love, and which airport do you loathe?

I love to travel so I only enjoy my flight. But my least favorite is Colombia airport. Reply to this

For anyone transiting through the Gold Coast (Australia), they are running a free wi-fi trial at the moment. You just have to fill in a very short survey to get the login. Reply to this

Not an obvious choice but new airport at Fuerteventura is a gleaming palace to retail at the cost of everything else including essentials. Part way through the day they run out of basic food in the handful of cafe's, its hard to find a bottle of water to buy, and when you do you must show your passport, and the queues for the gates resemble an ugly scrum with the gate lines not labelled until you get to the gate, so people get really annoyed when they find they in the completely wrong queue, and have to go join another long line. Money not well spent! Its complete chaos and recipe for a riot. I've seen it up close and very ugly. Reply to this

best - I really liked Koh Samui (in Thailand) airport - it was pretty tiny but they had a large seating/waiting area with free wifi, free food/drinks (finger food and juices - self-service) and really helpful staff. Plus the building was eco-friendly! Big thumbs up on my end.

worst - most definitely Bangkok Suvarnabhumi - nowhere to sit, those disgusting smoking rooms, feel like you walk endless miles to get to your terminal, and the building design is so clinical and un-friendly :p Reply to this

I'm going to adjust my list from my Opening Post, as I have since spent time in Changi Airport in Singapore and would now rate it as the best, beating both Hong Kong and Duabi.

I've had many hours waiting at African airports in recent times, and some of them are hopeless, but it is not fair to compare those airports with some of the more developed countries which should have better facilities but don't. Bearing this in mind, a dishonorable mention should be made to Brunei International Airport, considering it is the major transport hub for such a wealthy country, the airport is just awful.

I just visited the new Canberra airport yesterday and can say that it is now of an acceptable standard. Thus, the worst airport (for a nation's capital) will now be bestowed on Brunei.

Changi in Singapore still wins my vote for the best. Reply to this

Gurney Airstrip Papua New Guinea - even if they do lose the keys to the airport and the man guiding the plane onto the runway has two table tennis bats - lots of smiles and being looked after when they do find the keys. As its now become Alotoa international airport be interesting to see if they remember to bring the keys when a plane is landing.

Changi and HK for all the aforementioned reasons tho I do have a special fondness for the now defunct Kai Tek airport after living in its thrill a minute shadow years ago.

Worst - KL Low cost terminal...Giant calls it the home of ninja nuns with guns. Was asked to leave the aircon and sleep outside on the lawn because he was too big???...dont know how they came to that decision.

HCCM - gloom doom and dont you dare step infront of that yellow line.

BKK also sucks for all the aforementioned reasons. And will add Denpassar to the list for the touts and drivers, smog and smells and corrupt imigrasi officers. Reply to this

Bangkok is interesting, they have spent so much money in building the airport, yet it has so little character.

Where is HCCM? Reply to this

Singapore airport really stood out for me, all the plants, free internet, feeling of serenity, great shops etc.....

As rustic and comparitively small as it may be, I have to say Apia's arrivals were wonderful!

My worst airport ever would have to be LA, for reasons that could go on for two pages but the worse of all the rubbish things that happened is the way security threw my then three year old to the ground! Who ended up being so terrified she wet herself and then the shops were awful, there wasn't anywhere to buy anything to change her, no clothes, in fact incredibly bad shops! Reply to this

I think she means Ho Chi Minh City. Which is a pretty terrible airport, but all of the airports in Vietnam are a bit rubbish.

This this a trick question --- sort of like asking to pick the best of the worst.

Best- Singapore or Schipol

Worst- Miami International Airport or Puerto Rico

Two of the best in the US in our opinion are Detroit and Pittsburgh.

A few years ago we would have said the airport in Barbados was one of the best because it was open air and had a real Caribbean feel about it. It was easy in and out. They've updated and remodeled and it has lost its charm.
