My first post so Hi! I am a 23y old fella in central England wanting to get OUT! So I'm makin it happen, sellin all my things (my beloved 3 series BMW, home cinema etc) and workin like no tomorrow and intend after flight to have £8K banked and ready to roll to Bangkok on Boxing day(ish) to see 2008 in!

Can anyone advise on the best place to look for the cheapest possibly around the world flight details for UK > Thailand > NZ and back (maybe via Peru or LA?)

It's gonna be a journey into the big unknown but can not wait. I feel like I can't grow living in the comfort zone of my home area.

Adam as your based in the Uk i would suggest checking out Trailfinders, STA travel and Flight Centre, i got my round the world ticket from trailfinders but i hear the other two are ok aswell. The ticket price really dends on which airline alliance you use, the is the one world (which is BA, American Airlines etc), Star Alliance (new zealand air etc) and escaped, also it depends when you fly and how many flights or miles you use on your trip and remember the ticket only lasts for a year. On note is that if you want to do South America then only One World have partner airlines in the continent.

Its good your in the UK, as the UK is a hub for most places and means an RTW ticket is cheapest in the UK, not so bad price wise in OZ and in the US its a daft price.

If you need anymore advise just give me a holler

EZ Mike,

Looks like I'm bookin with travelnation.co.uk which is £925 + an estimated £300 taxes. Think it's the Star Alliance network going via Singapor to New Zealand. The One World quotes seem to come in at another £200 although are direct flights but not at the departure time I needed. Have to book NOW though as it is gonna be too late otherwise.

I also am gonna be doin a propper travel blog on here also, hoping to influence others to step out of the box!

It is actually a Great Escapade Ticket. Just booked it!

To Bangkok on December 25th for a month > Oz for a week in Jan > NZ for approx 6 months > Cook Islands for a week > LA to Sanfransisco Trip for 2 Weeks then Home!

How does that sound for a trip? Reply to this

Good luck to both of you on your trip! I'm off to Thailand for a month on the 21st Jan, then Cambodia, Malaysia, Oz, NZ and America for 7 months altogether. Thought about it, booked it (the easy part!), notice given in after working for the company for 9.5 years and now it's getting really close and only 9 working days left woo!!! Oh my god how exciting!!

I'm not looking forward to packing though - Mikey sounds like you had some issues, all sorted in the end I hope : )

Either of you guys working? I'm planning not to work but slightly concerned I'm gonna fly through my budget!!

Hi,

I have a budget of approx 8k UK Pounds and should last the best part of a year I hope. With overdraft of 2K if need be. I have just got into Phuket for New Years after a mad blast in Bangkok with some folks I know! Phuket is a bit like Tenerife though in comparison so far as there are so many familys etc here on package holidays, especially for New Year. Bangkok is just mental! I plan to move across the Islands, back to Bangkok to Chang Mei before leaving Thailand for Laos, which I have heard is awesome as well as Cambodia after.

All the best Jo! Reply to this

I got an eascapade ticket too, it was the cheapest I could find for my route bought from trailfinders, I'm also going to Singapore first and transiting to Bangkok, then making my own way back overland to Singapore, then I fly to Melbourne out from Cairns, into Auckland, out of Auckland into San Francisco and then home from New York. All that for £1150 which included the tax. A bargain!! Only trouble was that the ticket didn't include quantus but it was the cheapest I could get. It was between trailfinders and the flight centre both of them were really helpful.

Adam - your trip sounds fanastic, I hope I can stretch my budget out! Have a wicked new year in Phuket.

In fact have a wicked new year everyone, I for one am so excited about what's in store for 2008, no more boring 9 -5 - well not for quite a few months anyway. Good luck!
