Next stop Quito

Wow.. what a experience i had last week..My work was closed for a few days and this allowed for some serious exploring of the world outside Quito. Along with 2 others i ventured to the Cuyabeno Reserve and National Park in Pacayacu region of Ecuador. 4 days of no electricity,tv,or Cell Phones. The adventure started with a 20 min plane ride from Quito to Lago Agrio..a tiny strip of runway.. Greeted by my guide Juan(of course) we ventured down a winding road for 2 hrs..at this point the road became UNPAVED!!! and a additional 3 hrs later we arrived at "the bridge". So another sunday has arrived and again Im beat. Of course this is the result of working 6 days a week. I took advantage of another nice sunny sunday to head out and see what i can find.. I have been very dissapointed in my photographs these days. I cant seem to find much new inspiration. I cant get out of the city and I have investigated most of it already.. WOW,What a odd few weeks here in Quito.. Quito was in the parth of a large earthquake that was centered in Columbia,however here in Quito the hotel i live in shook for 45 seconds..It was my 2nd earthquake and it never gets easy..Lucky for us it was just a little rumble.. Work conti nues on and on however I have finally begun to find things that i really enjoy.. I have traveled a bit over a long weekend..visiting such small towns as Ibarra,Otavalo and San Antonio..This city and country really have a lot to offer.. While in Quito i have found some musicians...Previously i was invited to see a percussion group call TOMBACH.. this is a series of guys who sing and play drums..Along with my camera i attended a concert of heavy metal..good old fashioned ... read more

You may or may not know that my last few entries to the blog were lost.. I am placing the lost photos back and a few taken over the weekend..Today I went to the home of a friend who works at a small pub here in Quito.. We had traditional foods and some great company.. My 2 day weekend went fast and its back to work tomorrow..the city was deserted this weekend as people went to the beaches in massive numbers.. Enjoy t... read more
