Which is the best / worst airline in the world?

I know this is an old thred but once again had something to say so thought I would add my bit.

United airlines are head & shoulders above the rest when it come to bad airlines. We had several connecting flights with them when going to Rio & back.

The first flight the attendant asked me if I would like chicken or beef as my meal, when I asked what they came with he replied "does it matter it's a plane meal" whilst pulling a face suggesting either way I wasn't going to enjoy my meal.

On another flight as the attendants were walking past I asked for a drink as they had the drinks cart only to be told "sorry we don't have that" before they continued to walk past, not asking if I wanted something else, as they seemed more interested in their conversation of which the next thing I heard was "did you hear what that bitch said to me".

Finally, my fiancée gets a bit nervous on flights, on our flight home to the UK there was an announcement. "As some of you may be aware we are having a problem with our landing gear, we are going to be coming in 30 notts faster than usual, don't worry we have practiced this several times in traing & Heathrow have a very long run way, but just in case something does go wrong we have already called the fire brigade who will be waiting for us on the runway". My fiancée was going out of her mind in panic (which I thought was mildly amusing).

Even if I had to pay double for my flights I would never fly united again! Reply to this

worst- Royal Air maroc...two dalayed flight in the same day due to misunderstanding between the staff and the airport...the oldest plane I have ever seen, no services...the staff knows shit.

Thomas cook and their black and white tvs are not far behind...

Best- Continental Airlines....nest flight I have ever had. Free movies, music, games in front of you...I love it Reply to this

For me, the best would have to be Korean Air. We flew with them for a long haul flight, from Brisbane to London with an overnight stopover in Seoul, South Korea. The beauty of the stopover was not only did it break up a huge flight, but also we were put up in a 5 star hotel with breakfast, lunch and dinner provided all for us by the airline. Can't complain about that!

I don't think that I have a worst persay, just a few airlines that are not the greatest. I was unimpressed with the low quality of food when we flew with British Airways to Italy and my husband is not the greatest fan of Royal Brunei as their entertainment system is not great (I know this sounds like a trivial thing but when you are stuck on a plane for more than 24 hours it's right up there on our list). Best = Emirates They provided everything we wanted from an airline. They were kind, polite and professional.

Worst = It's a toss up between American Airlines and US Airways. Unhappy surley staff

We are happy travelers and polite. We attempt to make short and simple conversation with staff to keep them in a good mood. Sadly, we have run into a lot of staff on these airlines who have zero customer service skills. We hope they are happier when they are not at work. This is a personal observation.

When a flight is delayed for mechanical problems are you ever surprised their lack of communication. Gez, what is the big secret?
Just let us know what to expect..... 20 minutes or 20 hours. It seems so simple.

By far, of all the major airlines, American Airlines is on my list. Bad seats, poor customer service, poor quality. It is a Greyhound bus with wings. I would rather take Amtrack across the country for a few days rather than be stuck in one of American Airlines flying tubes of hardship.
