Has anybody experienced an overland trip with Oasis Overland, African Trails or other?

We are planning to book for an overland truk trip through Africa from Marocco to Cairo via Cape Town. Does anybody have suggestions, experience or recommendations regarding tour operator and time to travel? We would be very grateful. Reply to this

I went with Oasis last year and I'm saving up for another next year I loved it so much. My brother is going away with Oasis for 3 months this October. I can't fault them, their staff are really friendly too. They definately know their stuff, they have a lot of expierience. Who wouldn't want to live on a big yellow truck!?!?! Reply to this

Sorry about this, for some reason I can't post my message in one go! Right. Time to travel, that depends on what you want to see. Certain reserves have good game viewing all year round but others will have particularly good elephant sightings or other migratory animals at different times of the year.

It is generally felt that the African winter (May - August) is the best time to go on safari, as the grass is dry and vegetation sparse making game viewing easier. It is also the time when animals are on the move looking for food and water. In Kenya and Tanzania, you have the memorable opportunity of witnessing the migration of over two million wildebeests and zebra. Temperatures in winter are mild but can become considerably cooler in the evening.

Summer (Nov - April) is the best time to travel for birding, botany and great weather.

The rainy season in southern Africa extends from October to April, with the largest amounts typically observed between December and March.

I went during the rainy season...and man did it rain! didn't matter in the slightest I loved every minute of it :o)

Hope some of my ramblings have helped
