Nominate bloggers with 4 or less 'followers' for our Blogger Of The Week award! Nominations are welcome from all, whether you a new Travelblog member or a blogging veteran.
I'll second Bekah--great photos and I like her independent, adventuring spirit.
Reply to this I would like to nominate
Welf for BoW. A long time Blogger, born in Germany and living is Oz, he has traveled the world including all 7 continents...his latest blog being about his trip to Antarctica. Currently traveling around South America with no return home date. Good writer.
Reply to this Sorry, I've been absent from Travelblog due to lack of connections on the ship. El Jefe had been previously nominated and seconded, but was not blogging. He nows has 7 nominations, so that would count him out of the vote now. Possible Hall of Fame I think.
Reply to this Rules, rules--not my forte. So sad to see that El Jefe, whom I really like, can't be BoW. Makes me a bit curious (bad form, I know) about why we have that four or fewer rule.
On a more positive, note, I'm happy to third Welf. Fine adventurer!
Reply to this Tara for a long time we didn't have blogger of the week. It was created and designed to feature lesser known bloggers and give them some attention so others might start following them -- with the result of getting them to the front page.
We should applaud El Jefe that he is a blogger who didn't need our assistance. You should not be sad, you should be happy for him as he didn't need the help of blogger of the week to pole vault him to the front page. That speaks very highly of his blog.

There are many great bloggers on TB that have not won this award.
Reply to this I just read the last 10 great blogs of the pensiongappers. They've a great spirit of adventure and independent travel and are now in the Galapagos. They've got three nominations--anyone up for a fourth, so they can be BOW?
Thanks for getting back to me, Merry Jo. I see that the aim is to get great bloggers on the front page, and I so agree that this is more important than an award. I appreciate you all who look at unknown bloggers, so I too can also check them out.
Reply to this I decided to look for something different for BoW as most seem to be from trips around Asia or South America. So I picked a very remote place...Northern Norway in the winter...and ran across a Dutch researcher (writing in Dutch...just use the translate function) who is just beginning his two months stay when the sun will not shine the entire time. His pictures of whales in this remote harsh environment are other-worldly. I wish to nominate
EvertNoorwegen.

Traveling Terry for her beautiful prose, sophisticated vocabulary, and general lovely approach to writing. Her 11/23/2014 entry about a funeral for a 12-year-old girl is not to be missed.
Reply to this I would like to nominate Theresa Nichols for her beautiful prose, sophisticated vocabulary, and general lovely approach to writing. Her 11/23/2014 entry about a funeral for a 12-year-old girl is not to be missed.
Reply to this I'll second Traveling Terry, such a sweet, sensitive soul doing good work in the world! Sher creates beautiful word pictures.
Reply to this Having read most of her blogs, I can enthusiastically nominate
Monique in Motion for BoW. She recently won PoW and I can state unequivocally that her writing about Greece is just as great! I love her endings, with quotes from Aristotle and her thoughts about that.
Reply to this I'll give a third nomination to Monique in Greece. I checked out EvertNoorwegen and voted on some of his fine photos. While I can read some Dutch, I couldn't really understand it all and couldn't find the translation function though I did look. Help please.
Reply to this Monique, thanks so much posting the nomination here!
Tara, with 5 followers now, El Jefe's future blogs will appear on the front page. That is why 5 followers was chosen. However, with 5 followers El Jefe is now eligible for the Hall of Fame.
Reply to this In response to: Msg #187235 I'm using Google Chrome. I right click on the text to be translated and a menu pops up. Then I click on the translate to English option...and voila, the contect is translated, although not perfectly. Let me know if you are using Internet Explorer or something else and I'll try to help you with that.
Reply to this In response to: Msg #187245 Thanks, Bob, I'm using firefox. I tried right clicking, but nothing happened. I have google translate bookmarked because I use it often. When I do, it suggests I come over to chrome for that automatic translating, so I'm not overly hopeful of finding a faster method.
It is an interesting question of having bloggers on the front page writing in languages other than English. First, I like the idea that TB is open to all languages. Certainly the people who write in these other languages benefit from TB because their many same-language followers gain from their blogs.
On the other hand, will people reading the front page, and who don't have chrome, bother to copy the blog and paste it into google translate to read it? Just a question. I'm going to do just this now with Evert's blog. Wish me luck!
