I would like to travel from China to India on land in January.

Hello Everybody,
I have a strange (or not so strange?) plan to travel to India on land from China. Im currentky living in China and will have about 6 weeks holidays in January-February so I would like to visit my friend in India, actually South-India, in Tamil Nadu. My question would be how to travel from East China to India without using planes and actually considering I only have 6 weeks and I also want to spend some weeks in India and possibly fly back to China? Initially, I was planning to go to Laos then on to Thailand and fly from Bangkok but then I changed my mind and I really want to do the whole trip without using an airline. I know the fact that it is winter makes it even harder, as roads in the Himalaya can be closed but Im still hoping to find a solution.

Could you help me please?

thanks

Ildiko
