I wonder how useful Lonely Planet is...to you.
I first used Lonely Planet when I traveled to Istanbul....but honestly I almost didn't use it.
The street names were so well hidden that the maps were no use to me. :P
I merely flipped through the guide book...coz it's a bit boring.
Your opinions?
Reply to this I used both the Kenya Lonely Planet guide, and the East Africa one. I found both helpful and interesting, and loved the warnings, especially when two people tried to scam me using the scenes from the book. Sometimes I used the book to find out things in advance, and sometimes I looked things up after I'd been to a place. Even my Kenyan friends liked to look things up and either agree or dispute some of the stuff. Of course, I've looked in the books for my own home country and can dispute a few things too, so I just take what they say with a tiny grain of salt.
Reply to this Only purchased one for China which ended up being taken from me at the border anyway, so I guess it isn't all that useful.
